Summer Coda_Taking 5

Canon 5D Mark II camera and Canon 24-105mm L series USM lens

Here’s a picture of John MacGee the First Director on Summer Coda. I enjoyed working with John immensely. I very much appreciated John’s experience, calmness and dry sense of humor.

Being a stills photographer on a motion picture film is no easy job. Your access to actors and important scenes is very limited., particularly if, like me, you’re a permanent or semi-permanent member of the crew. But I knew that if I needed a shot, and there was even the slightest chance that it could be made, John would make room for me and allow me to do my job. You just don’t forget that sort of help. Ever!

The above image was made, during a brief lull in filming, while crewmembers were setting up camera and lighting for a new scene.  This provided a rare moment of respite for John and I was happy to be able to make a few quick snaps.

Processing was conducted in Adobe Lightromm 2 where the original color file was converted into a warm tone black-and-white image.
