Summer Coda_Day 15_AJ Toasting the Rain

Canon 5D Mark II camera and Canon 24-105mm f4 IS lens @ 24mm. Exposure Details: 1/60 second @ f4 ISO 400

The rain had started and steady camera operator, AJ, was there to toast the rain. While this brought Day 15 shooting in the orange grove to an untimely close, all members of the crew understood the need for good, steady rain in and around Mildura. The whole region has been suffering from the effects of drought for some time. So, for many, the rain was a joy. In the end we re-located to an indoor set for more shooting.

I love the textural qualities present in the image and opted for a black-and-white rendering that exhibited a deep, warm tone to evoke the brooding quality of the storm overhead. Within a few minutes it began to bucket down and the heavy rain continued for the rest of the day and through the night.

As usual processing was conducted in Adobe Lightroom 2 and Adobe Photoshop CS4.

Great to hear from you again. I’m back in the big smoke now with my part in the Summer Coda pretty much over.

    All the best,
