Canon 5D camera and Canon 180mm f3.5 Macro L series USM lens Exposure Details: 1/180 second f3.5 ISO 400

This image relies on light to bring out the warm colors of the flower and background as well as critical focusing and a very shallow Depth Of Field (DOF) to bring the eye back to the centre of the flower.

I employed the wonderful Canon 180mm f3.5 Macro L series USM (Ultra Sonic Motor) lens to both monumentalise the subject and separate it from its surroundings. The incredibly shallow Depth Of Field (DOF) turned the background into a wash of color from which the flower is able to stand out. To further place emphasise on the flower I moved the camera so that the flower was positioned against the yellow/green sunlit grass. The reddish colors on the left of the frame are other flowers placed out of focus.
