This image features a pretty prickly character that played up nicely for the camera. Actually the scene is probably a bit complex, full of color and detail. I’ve minimized some of that information through the use of tight framing and a shallow Depth of Field (DOF). I’ve also produced a black-and-white version of the image to further simplify the image down to the textural qualities of the lizard and it’s surroundings. Feel free to leave a comment to let me know which version you prefer.

The image was made with a Leica R8 camera and Leica 90mm f2 Summicron lens with Kodak Ektachrome Elite 100 Extra Color film. The original color image was scanned then processed in Adobe Camera RAW and Adobe Photoshop CS3. A Black-and-White Adjustment Layer was employed to produce the black-and-white version.
